In the autumn of 2008 Panos London worked with participants from the African HIV Policy Network (AHPN) to produce digital stories about their lives and concerns.
Medication is Uwera’s lifeline but her medication is not available in Rwanda.
Michael is frustrated that his skills as a science teacher are being wasted, while he waits for his asylum appeal case to be heard.
Pamala reflects on the uncertain future that frames her busy life as a volunteer.
Ivy talks about her life in the UK and the impact of her situation on her family.
Joyce spends sleepless nights worrying about her removal. She asks "if you were in my situation, what would you do?"
The above videos were made by the individual participants and may not necessarily reflect the views and opinions of Panos London.
All the participants are living with HIV and were at risk of being removed to their country of origin where treatment is not necessarily accessible, affordable or available. These stories are being used as part of AHPN's Destination unknown campaign. Through a workshop process the participants were introduced to some scripting, photography and editing skills which they used to write, record, photograph and edit their own stories. Below are six videos that were produced as part of the process.
A comment piece, 'A Snapshot of Life ', has also been published on the Panos London website giving an analysis about digital storytelling.
