In Brazil for example young men often believe that to prove their manhood they need to sleep with as many women as possible - and that it's up to them whether they use a condom or not.
Although Brazil has one of the most progressive anti-AIDS programmes in the world, many experts believe that the epidemic will remain widespread as long as young men don't change their behaviour.
Joao Paulo Charleaux talks to young men in Sao Paulo and finds out whether being a macho is still the only way to be a man in Brazil
